CRIME Photo

Design and creation of the visual identity for the crime-photo centre.

The studio designed and created the visual identity for CRIME-PHOTO, Centre de Recherche International sur le Mode d’Emploi (International Research Centre on Instructions for Use), a unique project that explores and highlights a singular photographic collection: that of instruction manuals and user guides illustrated with photographs.

At the crossroads of research, archiving and visual creation, the centre questions the aesthetic, historical and cultural significance of these technical documents, which are often considered minor. It treats them as objects of study in their own right, revealing gestures, uses, norms and imaginaries.

The visual identity we have developed is based on a selection of visuals from this collection, used as graphic elements in their own right. These images, sometimes innocuous or absurd, sometimes with an almost choreographic rigour, are highlighted in the visual identity that pays tribute to this collection.
